Broadway in the Boundary Waters

Each summer, Northern Lakes Arts Association brings world-class musical theater to Ely, Minnesota through Broadway in the Boundary Waters, a bold and joyful celebration of live performance in the heart of lake country. Centered at the Vermilion Fine Arts Theater and extending throughout the Ely community, BIBW features professional mainstage musicals, free outdoor concerts in Whiteside Park, youth theater camps, and inclusive community events that invite audiences of all ages to experience the transformative power of theater.

Launched in 2022, Broadway in the Boundary Waters was born from a vision to connect Ely’s deep artistic roots with professional performers and creators from across the country. In just a few short years, it has grown into one of Northern Minnesota’s most anticipated summer traditions, drawing theatergoers from across the Iron Range, the Twin Cities, and beyond.
 

With over 40 years of producing theater in Ely, NLAA continues to deepen its legacy by creating vibrant, accessible arts experiences that celebrate local talent, cultivate youth voices, and bring Broadway-caliber storytelling to the Boundary Waters region.
