COMPANY

CREATING,
MOVING,
CELEBRATING
EVERY BODY

Reflections Dance Company, a dynamic program of Northern Lakes Arts Association (NLAA), is dedicated to creating a welcoming and joyful environment for all people, of all ages and body types, to have fun and move their bodies. As part of its mission, Reflections believes that dance should be accessible to everyone, offering an inclusive space where creativity and self-expression flourish.

Rooted in NLAA’s commitment to enriching the community through the arts, Reflections provides a diverse range of classes and performances, inviting dancers of all skill levels to explore the joy of movement. Whether you are a seasoned dancer or someone looking to discover a new way to stay active, Reflections Dance Company offers opportunities for everyone to participate in the art of dance.

With programs that span contemporary, classical ballet, and more, Reflections is more than just a dance studio—it’s a community where people can connect, express themselves, and embrace the beauty of movement in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Through annual showcases, workshops, and public performances, the company celebrates the diversity of its dancers and their unique journeys.

Join us at Reflections Dance Company, where we believe every body is a dance body, and together, we move, grow, and inspire

Rural interdisciplinary artist and 2025 McKnight Choreographer Fellow Kayla Schiltgen presents her experimental dance performance, “is this magic?” followed by an artist chat on Saturday, October 11 at 7 PM at The Vermilion Fine Arts Theater. Suggested donation: $10 - $20 at the door.
As part of this event, Kayla will also lead a free dance workshop for ages 12+, exploring personal expression through movement activities used to create “is this magic?”. No prior dance experience is required—all bodies and abilities are welcome. No registration is necessary. The workshop takes place on Saturday, October 11 from 10:00 - 11:30 AM at the Ely Community Center.
“is this magic?” blends live dance with screendance film projections to explore authentic self-performance as a radical act of personal acceptance. Prioritizing intuition, desire, resourcefulness, and play, each iteration of this work is a one-of-a-kind expression, offering nuance and meaning with every performance.  This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. Kayla is also a recipient of the Individual Artist Equity Grant, made possible in part by the voters of Minnesota through the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council.
