About the event
James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim have masterfully woven together beloved storybook characters in a timeless yet relevant creation, a rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are not only enchanting but also deeply touching.
The narrative unfolds with a Baker and his wife, their fervent wish for a child, Cinderella yearning to attend the King's Festival, and Jack, who hopes for his cow to produce milk. However, when the Baker and his wife discover that they cannot have a child due to a Witch's curse, their journey to break the curse begins. As each character's wishes are granted, the consequences of their actions return to haunt them, leading to disastrous results.
The final reprise of "Into the Woods" serves as a poignant reminder that in life, we all must embark on our own journeys, but it's crucial to heed the lessons of the past and consider the future.
As the wise words suggest, "YOU JUST CAN'T ACT, YOU HAVE TO LISTEN; YOU CAN'T JUST ACT, YOU HAVE TO THINK." These insights emphasize the depth and complexity of the story, where listening and thoughtful reflection play a vital role in understanding its timeless themes.
