Our History

Northern Lakes Arts Association has been a staple in Ely, MN, since 1988. This organization was founded to use the arts to better our community. Throughout the years Northern Lakes Arts Association has produced productions in all four seasons, brought in touring artists from around the country, developed the Snow Sculpture Symposium that became Ely's Winter Fest, and much more. As we approach our 35th anniversary, we are excited to expand our organization's capacity and help Ely become an arts destination. We believe that investing in the arts only creates a more vibrant community for everyone.

The Snow Sculpture Symposium

Northern Lakes Arts Association helped create the snow sculpture contest and symposium that evolved into what is now become the "Ely Winter Festival." Here are some photos from when  NLAA first started the even.

Reflections Dance Company

Reflections Dance Company has been a part of NLAA for the past four years. Directed by Molly Olson, this dance company offers accessible dance classes that elevate dancers. We produce two dance concerts a year showcasing the work that this company is creating. Recently their film Home on Earth was featured at the North x North International Film Festival.
