Get creative, get playful, and make something parade-ready.
In this free all-ages community workshop, participants will design and build handmade puppets, wearable costume elements, and imaginative parade creations inspired by Ely, the Northwoods, and the joy of community celebration.
Led by 2026 Creative Spirit of the North Awardee Jane Dandron Holtz, this hands-on workshop invites participants of all ages and skill levels to explore visual storytelling through accessible techniques and recycled materials. Creations may be worn, carried, or performed, and participants will be invited to reconnect at Ely’s 4th of July Parade, where the group will walk alongside Jane Holtz’s 12-foot walleye parade puppet.
