Ely has a rich culture and history that is embedded with the performing, literary, and the visual arts. Northern Lakes Arts Association is a professional arts organization whose mission is to foster, promote, and present the performing arts, visual arts, and literary arts in Ely and the surrounding areas.

Our History
Northern Lakes Arts Association has been a staple in Ely, Mn since 1988. This company was founded on the premise of using the arts to better our community. Through out the years NLAA has produced production in all four seasons, brought in touring artists from around the country and the world, developed the Snow Sculpture Symposium that became Ely's Winter Fest and much more. As we approach our 35th anniversary we are excited to expand our organizations capacity and to help Ely become an arts destination. We believe that investing in the arts only create a more vibrant community.

NLAA help create the snow sculpture contest and symposium that evolved into what is now become the "Ely Winter Festival". Here are some photos from when NLAA first started the even.
